Anecdotally, folks didn’t want to vote for Rs SO MUCH yesterday, that an R who lost the primary but won the D write-in, in which there was no D on the ballot for the primary, won the election yesterday. (For a township supervisor seat.)

Paywalling/blocking ad blocking election results is not a great look

My PA County (Centre) had the highest post-Presidential election year turnout in at least 16 years tonight with Dems largely sweeping/winning across the County, much like the rest of the state tonight.

Turnout numbers:
2025: 43.25%
2021: ~35%
2017: 24.55%
2013: 17.93%
2009: 26.91%

If you want any more evidence that the GOP is being blamed for shutdowns, look at results tonight. I’m still crunching and analyzing, but I don’t think the shutdown had any impact on Dem numbers. Small sample of the entire political picture, of course, but don’t think GOP holding the budget hostage also wasn’t an election strategy this year. Backfired.

A local radio station has a, “Bonehead of the Day,” segment that features news stories of people doing, “stupid stuff.”

One of today’s was of a person that attempted to steal a power tool by stuffing it down the front of their pants. Ok, maybe not the best way to try and get it out, whatever. But the additional details of the story were that he was trying to steal it so that he could sell it to get his power back on.

The jokes afterwards - all about having a power tool in his pants - fell even flatter than they would have otherwise (they were just not good jokes on their own merits) juxtaposed against the desperation this person felt to get electricity back on.

The number of trick-or-treaters was down last night. To say we have some left over candy and popcorn is an understatement.
